The report presents case studies from three ‘subnormal’ settlements – Morro da Providência (favela), Manguinhos (favela) and Vila Autódromo. Each case study depicts the history of the settlement as well as the recent encounters between government and residents. The report focuses on a 5 year period until the aftermath of the historical mass protests in June 2013.
