Horizontal Accountability

The Alliance was designed and led by CIPPEC and OSSREA based on established research, and on new comparative research that the two research centres have undertaken

The Learning Alliance reviewed how the Legislature holds the Executive to account, and how effective they are in this task, this review was based on a comparison of selected experiences in Latin America and Africa. Formal structures, the capacities of both branches of the state, and the role of informal institutions were examined as well in order to identify ways to enhance accountability

This Learning Alliance Learning Alliance ran during 2016 and it is now closed to new members. Existing members can continue to log in for networking purposes.

Highlights from the Learning Alliance, summarising the learning phase, exchanges and conclusions were produced. A Study Tour to Buenos Aires took place in November 2016, click here to read the report, and find a short video of the lessons from the tour below.
